Cannabis is often associated with increased appetite (the munchies) and weight gain. However, this is due to its notorious tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content. Cannabidiol, or CBD, does not contain THC, so it is less likely to cause you to binge on a whole bag of Doritos. In fact, CBD can do just the opposite. By reducing your appetite, it can help you consume fewer calories and lose excess weight.

This is likely why CBD is capable of stimulating appetite among people that are in dire need of nutrition (such as cancer patients on chemotherapy), while at the same time suppressing appetite in those who need to lose weight. The active compound helps keep the body in balance, so if you need weight gain it can help you improve your appetite, but if you are overweight, it may be able to help curb your desire to eat.

The Hemp plant CBD oil is legal in almost all states, as it contains less than 0.3% THC and will not get you high. It is not the same as regular marijuana base CBD that is illegal in a lot of states due to it having a high THC %. I get Pure High Quality Hemp CBD from a really good company that keeps up with and follows the laws of each state. Only state at this time they cannot ship to is NE.
As previously mentioned, CBD and other cannabinoids affect the endocannabinoid system in the body. This system plays a significant role in regulating numerous physiological processes in the body. One of its most vital actions is helping the body to maintain balance. When someone is overweight, generally speaking, it’s not all about overeating or gluttony, but a combination of functions within the human body that are not functioning correctly. Many holistic doctors will agree that our Western diet and the way we treat disease both play a significant role in creating weight gain
It’s important to remember, though, that these areas of study are still very new and in their early stages. This makes it hard to predict just how far their reach and impact will be. Combined with lifestyle and dietary changes, prescribed cannabinoid use will very likely be a pivotal intervention in the future of obesity and diabetes management and recovery.
Interestingly, over-activation of the endocannabinoid system, primarily via CB1 receptor activation, contributes to increased abdominal obesity (i.e., fat gain along the midsection), glucose uptake into adipocytes (fat cells), and insulin resistance in muscle tissue. This “metabolic dysfunction” sets up a vicious cycle whereby further insulin resistance in muscles and the liver increases abdominal obesity and further CB1 over-activation, resulting in greater food-seeking behavior, increased appetite, and increased body fat gain.
Since I started useing medicinal CBD oil in a vaporizer to treat my fibromialgia pain I have lost 40 pounds of fat without changing anything I’m doing. It controls my hunger and my mood which stopped me from bing eating. It gave me energy to do more without pain as well as clearing up a skin problem I was having that my dermatologist tried every pharmaceutical cream on the market. It took cannabis an illegal product to fix me.
Also, please note that CBD should NOT be misunderstood as a miracle cure — and no reputable CBD seller or manufacturer should ever claim otherwise. Furthermore, if you are using CBD for weight loss purposes, don’t expect it to work if you eat fast food three times a day and your exercise routine consists of struggling to twist the cap off your bottle of beer!

Another marker of obesity and diabetes includes damage to liver cells. The liver is a major organ in the conversion between stored energy forms and useable energy forms in the body. Overburdening that system, such as with high fructose intake, can have disastrous effects. Inflammation within the liver indicates the onset of dysfunction, and possibly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

I would love to hear from anyone who has tried CBD oil for arthritis? Esp rheumatoid arthritis. Looking for more information for my mom. She’s never tried any form of THC, but is now willing to give it a try, without having to smoke anything. Just wondering if anyone can give me some info. Is CBD oil helping you? how much do you take? when do you take it? Thanks all
Hi Alda, I found this article while looking for reasons why my appetite was suppressed and had a feeling it was the CBD I am using. I’ve always been a big guy with a big appetite and now have to force myself to eat and cannot finish large meals like in the past. Hunger no longer controls my life. I started with cbd oil earlier this year in March and now use high CBD low THC (less than .3%) flower in a vaporizer. I went from 275 to 255 since March with no changes in my physical activity. Now that I have my appetite under control I can focus on getting in the gym.
Frankel puts his hand on his heart. “Imagine the pressure!” he says. A complex soul, whose parents survived the Holocaust, Frankel says that when his patients don’t get better, he’s sad and disappointed, and starts to question if he’s wasting people’s time and money. “But then ten people will get better, and I feel… grateful. It makes me confident I’m on the right road, on the right side of history.”

In 2007, he was investigated by the California Medical Board and in 2008, his license to practice was suspended. He fought this in court, losing his house to pay legal bills, and in 2011, his license was reinstated. During those “hard years,” he said, he hired other doctors to write recommendations for medical marijuana licenses, then Frankel advised the patients how to treat their ailments. “I could have quit and taken a job that paid well, but I kept asking myself, what’s the best thing I can do for my patients?” He thought about what his parents had suffered in Auschwitz. “Why should I crumble because the medical board takes away a piece of paper? I was willing to fight for something I feel is absolutely good—because of its efficacy and lack of side effects.”
Scam CBD sellers tend to manufacture low-grade oils via ethanol (or other solvent-based) extraction, in what is little better than trying to do it yourself in your basement. The result is a liquid that contains a little CBD (along with some other cannabinoids and terpenes), but not in the quantities needed to be effective in terms of any legitimate medicinal function. Moreover, these solvent-based extracts can contain unnecessary and potentially harmful components.
Frankel grew plants, crossed strains, and tried them on friends as well as himself. Working with chemists and professional growers, he developed formulas for whole plant oils, which are manufactured independently and for which he receives no compensation. In 2006, Frankel felt he’d learned enough to open a new practice as a cannabis medical consultant.
